Balestier is known for its interesting mix of temples, old shop houses, heritage buildings, new condos, and budget hotels. It also has a variety of popular heritage food and some unique food stores. Recently a few upmarket F&B ventures have sprouted in the area, adding vibes and choices, and transforming the food scene. Unknowingly, it is also the battleground of iconic traditional food – tau sar piah, chicken rice, and bah kut teh.
The tour will explore the origin/history and competitiveness of these iconic food clusters and some other unique food stores. The tour includes 3 complimentary snacks for each participant – tau sar piah, baked puff, and nonya chendol.
